The Wheeling Gateway Visitors and Heritage Center is moving toward construction, and we want to make sure the right partners are at the table. Following an addendum issued to interested firms by Desmone Architects on Friday, April 3, 2026, the sealed bid deadline has been officially extended. Bids are now due April 16, 2026 at 2 p.m.

Firms were also notified of a structured review process that will follow bid submission. Beginning April 16, immediately after bids are opened, the project team will review all submissions to confirm they meet qualification requirements.

From April 17 to April 20, the three lowest qualified bids will be identified through a scope and price review of all bids that met submission requirements. Those firms will then be invited to a meeting on April 22 to walk through the drawing set alongside their bid scope.

This project is the fullest expression of what community-driven development can look like. More than 4,200 locals and visitors shaped its direction. Millions in federal, state, and local funding have come together to bring it to life. Upon completion, the Wheeling Gateway Center will be one of the most transformational projects in the Northern Panhandle in modern history — a destination that inspires both residents and visitors for decades to come.
